Alabama. Advisory Committee for Children and Youth.
History notes:
The Committee's purpose was: to act as an advisory committee to agencies, organizations, and institutions that work for children; to coordinate support and interation among groups; to involve youth in the process.
The Alabama Advisory Committee for Children and Youth grew out of an unofficial committee organized in 1940 to coordinate planning for day care. At one time the committee served as an official advisory group to the State Departments of Health, Education, and Pensions and Security on child welfare matters. The State Advisory Committee on Children and Youth was designated by the various governors to plan Alabama's participation in the 1950, 1960, and 1970 White House Conferences on Children and Youth.
