Simon Bamberger was born to Emanuel and Helen Fleish Bamberger in Germany about 1846. He emigrated to the United States around 1860, settling in Missouri to open a country store. In 1869, he moved to Utah where he became a hotel owner and investor in mining properties. He married Ida Maas in 1881. Bamberger became very involved in education, championing the fight for better education and increased salaries for teachers. He served in the Senate from 1903-1907 and was nominated Governor in 1916. Simon Bamberger died in 1926.
Julian Bamberger, the son of Simon Bamberger, was born in 1889 and became a prominent Utah citizen. He served as president of the Bamberger Railroad Company, president of Lagoon Amusement Park, and was a Utah Senator. He also owned several mining companies and was involved in various other companies and committees. Julian Bamberger married Edith M. Hahlo in 1920. He died in 1967.
