Biographical notes:
Corrections official; born in 1900; grew up in California; was graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1922; worked successively at the California Bureau of Juvenile Research, at the Los Angeles County Probation Department and on the juvenile delinquency portion of the Harvard Law School Crime Survey; served as superintendent of "Clinton Farms," the New Jersey State Reformatory for Women (now the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women) in Union Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, 1928-1968.
