He was a partner circa 1830-1836 with Sidney Livingston Brower in Albany NY as S & B BROWER. In 1833, the firm opened a branch in in New Orleans.
He was a partner in 1842-1845 with George Clinton Brower in New Orleans LA as B. BROWER & Co. After his death, his widow continued the firm until 1855.8
Baldwin married Elizabeth Hazard Barker, daughter of Jacob Barker and Elizabeth Hazard, on 18 May 1836 in New Orleans LA. (Elizabeth Hazard Barker was born on 4 Jul 1817 and died on 8 Jan 1858.)
