Journalist, lobbyist and public speaker involved in all three of the major reform movements of the mid-19th century: temperance, abolition, and the women's movement. Born in Townshend, Vermont, Clarina worked for a newspaper in Brattleboro, Vermont where she married the newspaper's publisher, George Nichols. In 1854 Clarina moved to Kansas; she died in 1885 in California.
