Biographical notes:
Joanna was born between 1802 and 1804 to Agnes. Agnes was the daughter of Joan; she was born enslaved to owner George Washington. When Joanna was born Agnes was already freed by Washington.
Joanna had two children, Catherine Gowens and Emily Gownens.
