Brevet Brigadier General (BG) Luther P. Bradley was born on 8 December 1822. He served in the Connecticut militia and was commissioned a lieutenant in 1850. In October 1862 he was promoted to colonel of the 51st Illinois Infantry Regiment. He was appointed brigadier general of the 51st Illinois Infantry in July 1864. Bradley resigned his commission in June 1865. He was appointed lieutenant colonel of the 27th Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army in July 1866. In March 1869, he was transferred to the 9th Infantry Regiment. He was appointed colonel of the 3rd Infantry Regiment in March 1879. On 8 December 1886, he retired. Luther P. Bradley died on 13 March 1910.
