Biographical notes:
A state supported liberal arts college formed in 1891 as the State College for Colored Students; 1947 name changed to Delaware State College; July 1, 1994 name changed to Delaware State University. Board of Trustees was organized in 1891; consists of 11 members, six appointed and commissioned by the governor of Delaware for a term of six years, five elected by a majority of the whole Board for a term of six years; serve as the governing body of the university.
