Edward L. Kimball, son of the twelfth President of the LDS Church, is a retired professor of law at Brigham Young University. He specialized in the fields of criminal law, criminal justice and administration, trial practice, the rules of evidence, and professional ethics, and has written many publications in law and Mormon history.

Edward L. Kimball was the son of Spencer W. Kimball. Spencer W. Kimball served as president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1973 to 1985.

Dr. Edward L. Kimball (son of Spencer W. Kimball) is a retired professor of law at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He received his bachelor's degree in 1953 in history and a J.D. in 1955, both from the University of Utah. He also has two graduate degrees in law from the University of Pennsylvania (1959 and 1962).

Professor Kimball taught law for forty years at the University of Montana, the University of Wisconsin, and Brigham Young University, primarily in the fields of criminal law, criminal justice and administration, trial practice, the rules of evidence, and professional ethics.

He has written many publications in law and Mormon history. Notably is his co-authorship about his father and mother, Spencer W. Kimball (1977) and Camilla Eyring Kimball (1980).
