Biographical notes:

Moses Liddell was a prominent planter of Elmsley Plantation, Woodville, Miss. In the mid 1840s he sold Elmsley and relocated nearer to his son, St. John Richardson Liddell of Llanada Plantation, Catahoula Parish, La. St. John Liddell (1815-1870) served as a brigadier general in the Confederate Army and resumed planting at Llanada after the war. He was fatally shot by Charles Jones on Feb. 14, 1870 after a longstanding feud.
