Heritage Council 1978-93; and Chancellor of the University of Wollongong 1975-1997 . During his career Hope conducted the following inquiries: the Committee of Inquiry into the National Estate (1973-75); the Royal Commission on Intelligence and Security (1975-78); the Protective Security Review (1979); and the Royal Commission on Australia's Security and Intelligence Agencies (1983-85).
