Biographical notes:
Martin, a Macon County, Illinois farmer, enlisted as a private in Company E, 115th Illinois Infantry on August 10, 1862, was mustered in at Camp Butler on September 13, 1862, and mustered out as a sergeant on June 11, 1865.
