Biographical notes:

General George Robert Ainslie (1730?-1804) joined the Horse Grenadier Guards in 1755, before transferring to the 15th Light Dragoons. He was aide-de-camp to George III, lieutenant-colonel (1770), major-general (1782), Governor of Ostend, and Lieutenant Governor of the Scilly Isles (1783).
