Biographical notes:
Ennis Clement Whitehead (b. Sept. 3, 1895, Westphalia, Kan.-d. Oct. 12, 1964) received his commission in the aviation section of the Signal Corps in 1917. He reached the rank of brigadier general in June 1942, then major general in March 1943, then lieutenant general in June 1945. He was commanding general of the Continental Air Command, then Air Defense Command from 1949 to 1951. He retired as a lieutenant general in July 1951.
