Thode, Kay
Biographical notes:
Social worker and welfare policy analyst, Kay Thode, was a tireless advocate on behalf of the economically disadvantaged throughout a long and distinguished career in which she served as Director of the Seattle Urban League's Health and Welfare Department (1968-1983) and later as a planner for the King County Health Planning Council.
Thode was active in several organizations, including the Puget Sound Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers and the Washington Association for Social Welfare. She also initiated the group, Washington State Friends of Welfare Rights, to support the activities of the Washington State and National Welfare Rights Organizations. Thode was frequently called upon to testify before local, state, and federal government bodies on issues relating to welfare rights.
