Biographical notes:

The Wright family owned lands in Louisiana and Texas. Jesse D. Wright practiced medicine in Rapides Parish, La., and also managed several business concerns, including a store and plantations, and was active in civic and church affairs. He married Sarah Robert Grimball in 1821.

After the death of Jesse Wright, his wife and younger children moved from North Bend Plantation to Greenwood Plantation, Rapides Parish, La. Sarah Wright managed the Wright estate until the 1870s, when her daughter, Mary Cornelia Wright, assumed management.

Jesse and Sarah Wright had six surviving children. Sarah Catherine married General Leroy A. Stafford; Julia Caroline married Leroy S. Havard, a businessman in St. Landry parish, La.; Ellen Judith married Oscar Bailey Cheney; Mary Cornelia remained unmarried and resided at Greenwood, and later with the family of Esther Wright Boyd; David Paul Augustus died at school in Kentucky; and Esther Gertrude married David French Boyd, who became President of Louisiana State University.

Leroy S. Havard and Oscar Cheney were both involved with the management of the Wright estate; Cheney managed Greenwood Plantation for Sarah Wright during the Civil War.
