Biographical notes:

On Sunday June 13, 1954 the Maine Central Railroad ran its last steam powered passenger train using the locomotive Number 470. On that day ten rail enthusiasts decided to meet informally and call themselves the 470 Club. In 1972 the Club began acquiring collections of railroad images from photographers and collectors of which this collection forms a part.
