Biographical notes:

Horatio Seymour, Jr. (1844-1907) and his wife Abigail Adams (Johnson) Seymour (1855-1915) resided in Utica, New York and Marquette, Michigan. They had two children, Mary (1881- ?) and Horatio (1882/3- ?). Horatio, named for his uncle, the Governor of New York State, was the son of John Forman Seymour (1814-1890) and Frances Antill (Tappan) Seymour (1815-1860). He was an assistant engineer on the Erie Canal in 1874 and State Engineer of New York State, 1878 to 1881. In 1882 he, and his family, moved to Marquette, Michigan where he was head of the Michigan Iron and Land Company. Upon retiring in 1905, he returned to Utica, New York.
