Biographical notes:

Frank Porter Graham (1886-1972) succeeded Harry Woodburn Chase as President of the University of North Carolina on 1 July 1930. He served in that position until 14 November 1932, when he became President of the newly created Consolidated University of North Carolina, which included the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina State College in Raleigh, and Woman's College in Greensboro. After consolidation, the title of the chief administrative officer on the Chapel Hill campus was Dean of Administration, and later Chancellor.
