Biographical notes:

Professional education organization. The Iowa State University association of Phi Delta Kappa is known as the Beta Kappa Chapter. The first by-laws are dated February 26, 1948. The chief purpose of Phi Delta Kappa is to promote free public education as essential to the development and maintenance of a democracy, through continuing interpretation of the ideals of research, service, and leadership. It is the purpose of Phi Delta Kappa to translate these ideals into a program of action appropriate to the needs of public education.
