Biographical notes:
Mary Sprague (1890-1980) daughter of Sarah and Francis W. Sprague and granddaughter of Caleb Gardner Sprague, lived on Rendezvous Lane in Barnstable Village. Mary's great-grandfather, a deep sea "Cap'n" from the age of 21 until he retired from the sea at age of 73, came from Hingham, and married Sarah Gorham of Cummaquid. Her grandfather, grandmother, and father were all born in Barnstable and spent their summers there. In her books, Mary recollects the people, places, and history of Barnstable Village.
