Marion County, Illinois lawyer and founder and editor of the Salem Advocate, a newspaper. He was Assistant Secretary of the 1861 Illinois Constitutional Convention and elected to the legislature in 1862. In 1860 he was a member of the delegation to the Democratic Convention.
