Biographical notes:

David Handel Mills was born in Wales in 1891. During the First World War he served with the South Wales Borderers. A former Personal Private Secretary to the then Foreign Secretary Viscount Grey of Fallodan, Mills was deeply involved with the League of Nations. He held the post of Secretary to the League of Nations Association of Great Britain, and to the Industrial Advisory Committee of the League of Nations. On leaving the League of Nations, he joined the Royal Air Force, and held the rank of Squadron Leader during the Second World War. Mills also maintained his links with Wales through his involvement with the building of the Temple of Peace in Cardiff. He retired in 1953, and died during the 1970s.
