Biographical notes:
A native of South Carolina, Dr. John William Ogilvie, age 38, appears in the U.S. Federal Census of 1860 as a resident of Ogeechee in Screven County, Ga., along with Sallie M. Ogilvie, age 21, and Mary E. Ogilvie, age 6; by the 1870 census, Ogilvie is listed as a resident of Allendale Township in Barnwell County in his native S.C.
