William E. Paulk, Jr. (1929-2003) professor and poet, born in Rebecca, Georgia (Turner County), taught English at the University of Georgia and Western Carolina University (Cullowhee, North Carolina). Paulk published his books of poetry on his own press, Persimmon Hill Press, which was located in his home in Rebecca.
