Biographical notes:

Organized in Springfield, Ill., in 1892 to secure representation for Sangamon County women at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago; an auxiliary of the Illinois Woman's Exposition Board.

Women's Columbian Clubs were established in every county but Cook by the Illinois Woman's Exposition Board to collect, for exhibition at the World's Fair, materials that represent the activities and interests of Illinois' women. The Sangamon County Club officially disbanded on 6 February 1894.
