Squire Boone was the brother of Daniel Boone, the famous Kentucky explorer and settler. Squire Boone helped to blaze the Wilderness Trail, and was one of the settlers at Boonesborough, the operator of a gristmill and sawmill, and an ordained Baptist minister.

Squire Boone was born in 1744, in Berks County, Pennsylvania. He married Jane Van Cleave in 1765 and had five children, Jonathon, Moses, Isaiah, Sarah, and Enoch Morgan. During his marriage, Squire, and his brother, Daniel Boone, explored Florida, cut the Wilderness Road, and built Boonesboro in Kentucky. Squire also served as an elected representative to the Virginia Legislature from Kentucky. After experiencing problems with land titles in Kentucky, Squire moved to Mississippi, New Orleans, and eventually settled in Indiana, where he died in 1815.
