Biographical notes:

The DuPont Company began the manufacture of smokeless powder at its new works at Carney's Point near Penns Grove, N.J., in 1891-93. A Technical Dept. was created early in the life of the plant and worked in conjunction with the scientists at the Du Pont Experimental Station and at the Eastern Laboratory of the Repauno Works to develop new products, maintain quality control, and improve products and processes.
