United States. Army. New York Infantry Regiment, 7th (Militia) (1806-1922)
Biographical notes:
New York City regiment, originally organized as four artillery companies in 1806. Involved in riot control in New York City throughout the nineteenth century; also served in the Civil War, World War I, and World War II. Redesignated as the 107th Infantry in 1917; consolidated with the 7th Infantry, N.Y.G. in 1922, retaining the title 107th Infantry. Prominent colonels include Marshall Lefferts (1859-1864), Emmons Clark (1864-1889), and Daniel Appleton (1889-1916).
