Dr. Walter Johns (1908-1985) was president of the University of Alberta, 1959-1969. He served the campus for 35 years, having been appointed to the Dept. of Classics in 1938. Community and national organizations benefitted from Dr. Johns abilities among them the Association of Universities and Colleges, the Canadian Club, the Institute of Public Administration of Canada, the Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
