Biographical notes:

Barnes was Deputy Senior Advisor and Commander, 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam. He was investigated for allegedly condoning war crimes and was exonerated. The charges were brought by Anthony Herbert, author of "Soldier". Barnes was Chief, Military Assistance Advisory Group in China.
