Henry Burgess (1781-1863) was a British inventor, economist, commercial investor, and editor. Another son, Edward (1810-1855), lived in Persia and became a tax collector there. Their brother, George Burgess (1817-1900), emigrated to America in 1840 and became an importer, largely of linen and threads.
