Biographical notes:

Research and design consultancy, Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, Scotland . Incorporated in 1966, Kingston Marine Technology Ltd specialised in the design and construction of ships and marine facilities. From its base on the river Clyde's lower reaches, it conducted feasibility and damage condition studies and research and development for shipping and marine engineering concerns world wide. Became a division of Scott Lithgow Ltd , shipbuilders, Greenock, Inverclyde at merger of Lithgows Ltd , shipbuilders and repairers, Greenock, Inverclyde, and Scotts' Shipbuilding and Engineering Co Ltd , Greenock, in 1970. Prior to the merger it was a wholly owned subsidiary of Lithgows Ltd .

In 1972 Lithgows (Holdings) Ltd , Glasgow, assumed responsibility for its financial affairs. In 1975, the company moved from its base in Port Glasgow to Thornliebank, Glasgow .

After 1977, the company remained independent of the nationalised shipbuilding industry but maintained a link with Scott Lithgow Ltd.
