Biographical notes:
The Office of Publications is responsible for editing and producing books, catalogues, and brochures for the National Portrait Gallery (NPG). The publications also include the documentation of NPG's exhibitions, some of which were displayed prior to the agency's creation.
In 1968 National Portrait Gallery Director Marvin S. Sadik appointed Robert G. Stewart as the first Editor of Publications for the NPG. He was followed by Frances Stevenson Wein, Editor of Publications, 1975-1994, and Publications Officer, 1995-present.
