Biographical notes:

Commissioners officially empowered in 1784 to take possession of and conduct public sales of lands confiscated from attainted or indicted New York loyalists. Isaac Stoutenburgh and Philip Van Cortlandt were the Commissioners of Forfeiture for New York's designated Southern District which included the counties of New York, Suffolk, Queen's, King's, and Richmond.
