Biographical notes:

Pioneer rancher and sheriff in Pima County and the Santa Cruz Valley, Casanega came to Arizona in 1877. He married Pete Kitchen's niece, Apolonia Cordova in 1885, was known as a "cattle baron of Tubac", and spent many years in Nogales. He was deputy sheriff in Quijotoa, Ariz. in 1884.
