Adams was a bandmaster in the U.S. Navy (1917-34 and 1942-47), a press correspondent for several media organizations (1949-ca. 1968), and a founding member and president of the Hotel Association of the Virgin Islands (1952-1970). He was also a composer, educator, civic leader, author, and local historian. Adams was born in St. Thomas, V.I., in 1889, and died there in 1987.
