Biographical notes:

Jewelers in Stockton, Calif. (1896-1960). Originally branch of a San Francisco company, Goodman's became independent after earthquake and fire (1906). Run by Louis Goodman until his death, then by his son, Joseph Goodman, and finally by daughter Bess and her husband Joseph (Jack) Maltin. Their son, Louis G. Maltin, was stationed in New Guinea during World War II. Much of collection consists of his letters to parents describing conditions in South Pacific.
