Biographical notes:
Jerry Dixon excels in outdoor sports such kayaking, hiking, and skiing, and has written several books about his adventures. Now retired, he is an educational activist. He has endowed a lecture series in philosophy at the University of Utah and received many grants for environmental education in Alaska. The Jerry S. Dixon Award for Excellence in Environmental Education is awarded to people involved in education in Alaska who demonstrate a dedication to wilderness conservation.
