Strobhar family.
Biographical notes:
The Strobhar family had a rice plantation in Jasper County, South Carolina, but moved to Savannah, Georgia during the American Civil War. Cecil B. Strobhar was born in 1893 in Savannah, Georgia. He attended grammar and high school in Savannah and later attended Auburn University in Alabama. After completing his education, Strobhar entered the cotton business in Savannah and Charleston, South Carolina. He entered officers training camp at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia and was commissioned as a first lieutenant of the infantry and was attached to Company D of the 325th Infantry Regiment. He served in this capacity in France during World War I until he was promoted to captain during a battle in the Argonne Forest. He married Mary M Hawkins of Atlanta in January 1918 while in service. Strobhar died on 21 July 1924 in Washington, D.C. and is buried in the Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah.
