Biographical notes:
Naturalist and physician born in Massachusetts; resident of Camden (Kershaw District, S.C.) from 1807-1835; 1801 graduate of Brown University; husband of Susannah Carpenter (1780-1809) and Rachel Willett; brother of Abram Blanding (1776-1839), James Blanding (b. 1781), and Shubal Blanding (b. 1794).
