Biographical notes:

Arthur Eduard Goldschmidt, also known as Tex Goldschmidt, (b. Feb. 17, 1910, San Antonio, Tex.-d. Sept. 21, 2000, Haverford, Pa.), was a friend of President Lyndon B. Johnson. He worked for the Power Division of the Public Works Administration from 1938 to 1940. He worked for the Department of the Interior from 1940 to 1950, serving as director of the Power Division from 1942 to 1949. He was director of technical assistance for the special fund operations of the United Nations from 1950 to 1967, and later a U.S. representative at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) from 1967 to 1969, with the rank of ambassador.
