Reorganized in South Carolina in 1881 from Spartanburg and Asheville Railroad Company; operated as part of Richmond and Danville system (1881-1894); controlled by Southern Railway Company after 1895; ran from Biltmore, N.C., to Alston, S.C. (134 miles).
