(1940-42) and director of International Summer School (1952-61), Bennington College; chief of Central Pacific Operations, US Office of War Information, 1942-45; publications include Americans from Japan (1948), Bradford of Plymouth (1951), Portrait of India (1962), and Men of peace (1964); he died on July 14, 1964.
