Biographical notes:

Marshall Stimson, a Los Angeles lawyer, was active in civic affairs and was instrumental in the development of the Los Angeles Harbor. He was director of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce and active in reform movements in state and local governments. Stimson was prominent in Republican politics and organized the Lincoln-Roosevelt Republican League of California (1907) and the Progressive Party in California (1912). He was also active in supporting the League of Nations and the United Nations.
