Biographical notes:
Archer, born in Virginia in 1797, came to Mississippi in 1824, married Ann Barnes [in 1833?], and settled on Anchuca Plantation near Port Gibson, Claiborne County, in 1837 and became a wealthy planter and slave-owner.
