DeWees in 1937; graduate of University of Puerto Rico, Ph.D. in Pharmacy (1919); M.D. from Meharry Medical College (1928); taught anatomy, histology, embryology, neuro-anatomy, and psychiatry, Meharry Medical College (from 1930); major, Medical Corps during World War II; chief, Neuro-Psychiatric Services, Veterans Administration Hospital and Medical Center, San Juan, Puerto Rico (1947-1954); worked at other Veterans' Hospitals until 1960; director of the Negro Division, Central State Mental Hospital, Nashville, Tenn. (1960-1964), and director, Psychiatric Out Patient Unit (1964-1967).
