Janvier family.

Dates:
Active 1705
Active 1913

Biographical notes:

The Janvier family descended from Thomas Janvier (1664-ca.1729), who was an early French immigrant to New Castle County, De. His youngest son, Philip, a brick-layer, was the founder of the branch of the family to which most of the material in this collection relates. His children were prosperous merchants and store owners, most of whom settled in the New Castle area to capitalize on the line of travel between Philadelphia and Baltimore.
