Biographical notes:

Tuscaloosa Female College was founded in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in 1860. It was affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church South. Its building was originally known as The Athenaeum, a Baptist female school founded in 1835. The College closed in 1905.
