Gillespie, David B., 1774-1829
Biographical notes:
Born in Duplin County, North Carolina, surveyor David B. Gillespie (1774-1829) graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1795 before joining Andrew Ellicott to mark the boundary of the United States in the area of Natchez, Mississippi. Additionally, Gillespie fought in the War of 1812 and served in the North Carolina Legislature.
